Brave Castle Target Challenge
The Brave Castle Target Challenge is a rifle-based training drill designed to test efficiency, reload discipline, and accountability under time pressure.
Shooters engage a single target from 15 yards using 14 total rounds across four magazines, loaded in increasing round counts (2-3-4-5). All reloads must be performed from a chest rig or plate carrier, with the first three magazines shot to bolt lock. The course is shot on the clock, filmed in one continuous take, and scored using a hit factor system that rewards both accuracy and speed.
Each run requires clean execution: no makeup shots (except for verified malfunctions), strict round count enforcement, and clear scoring based on printed target zones. Line-breaking hits count, misses are penalized, and performance is evaluated by total points divided by time.
Participants may shoot the challenge as many times as they like. Shooters who meet or exceed the hit factor par of 5.0 may submit their run for review. Successful runs earn a limited Gold Castle Patch, available only through completion of a Brave Castle Challenge.
This challenge is intended as a training tool—not a gimmick—built to reinforce fundamentals, expose inefficiencies, and encourage honest performance tracking.

Course of Fire & Rules
GENERAL
● Print and shoot as many targets and iterations as desired.
● This challenge is intended for training and personal improvement.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
● Target stand and backer, stapler, shot timer, rifle, 4 magazines, chest rig or plate carrier (required), 14 rounds total, eye and ear protection
● Target distance: 15 yards
LOADOUT & MAGAZINE SETUP
● Reloads must be from the chest rig or plate carrier only. Reloads from a belt do not count.
● Magazine loading: Mag #1: 2 rounds; Mag #2: 3 rounds; Mag #3: 4 rounds; Mag #4: 5 rounds.
● The last magazine may be topped up to account for malfunctions.
● Only 14 rounds may be fired per iteration.
● Starting condition: Mag #1 inserted in rifle; bolt forward; safety on; mags #2–#4 in chest rig or plate carrier.
COURSE OF FIRE
● Film yourself confirming 15 yards.
● Begin recording in the ready position before the timer beep.
● At the beep, fire all 14 rounds, shooting magazines in increasing order (2 → 3 → 4 → 5).
● First three magazines must be shot to empty, locking the bolt open.
● All reloads must be from bolt lock.
● No makeup shots except malfunctions, which may be made up only from the last magazine. Still, only 14 total rounds may be fired.
VIDEO REQUIREMENTS
● Entire run must be filmed in one continuous shot.
● After firing, walk the camera to the target and keep it in frame while counting bullet holes.
● Before ending the video, show and announce your time, score, and hit factor.
SCORING
● 140 total points available.
● Exactly 14 impacts must be present on target.
● Misses off paper are minus 10 points each.
● Hit factor = total points ÷ total time. Par hit factor is 5.0 or higher.
● Line breaks count only if the bullet hole breaks the printed line with no white paper visible. Tears do not count.

● Final determination of a win is at my discretion.
● Cheating defeats the purpose; this challenge is for training.
