INTRO TO COMPETITIVE SHOOTING
INTRO TO COMPETITIVE SHOOTING 1 & 2
One or Two-Day Intermediate Pistol Class
TAKE ONE DAY OR BOTH
You can take one or both days, depending on your previous experience and training goals.
If you have never shot a competition, taken a USPSA-style class, or done any performance-focused shooting, I strongly recommend starting with Day 1.
If you are new to competitive or performance shooting and want to attend Day 2, completion of Day 1 is required. Shooters with previous competition or equivalent performance-shooting experience may attend Day 2 independently.
Not sure which day is right for you? Please reach out to me. I’m happy to discuss your experience and goals and help determine which option best suits your needs.

Intro to Competitive Shooting 1 & 2 is a two-day course designed to introduce experienced pistol shooters to the fundamentals, techniques, and expectations of competitive shooting.
This is not a beginner firearms course. Students should already have a solid understanding of handgun safety, operation, loading, unloading, and basic marksmanship. This course is intended as a continuation of foundational pistol training and is appropriate for shooters who have completed previous training with Brave Castle or another qualified organization.
DAY 1 — INTRO TO COMPETITIVE SHOOTING
Learn how to show up to a match, what to expect, and how not to get DQ’d.
Day 1 introduces the fundamentals of competitive shooting, including match and range procedures, safety requirements, stage planning, shooting positions, movement, target engagement, and the basic skills needed to safely participate in a match.
The goal is to give you the knowledge and practical experience to understand how a match works and confidently take your first steps into competitive shooting.
DAY 2 — SHOOTING & MOVEMENT
Day 2 builds on the concepts introduced on Day 1 with a more advanced approach to stage execution.
We’ll work on shooting and movement techniques, entering and exiting positions, target transitions and blending, efficient stage planning, and learning how to move aggressively while maintaining safe firearm handling and control.
Expect more movement, more shooting, and more emphasis on putting individual skills together into complete stages.
PREREQUISITES
Students must have prior pistol training and be able to safely and independently operate their handgun. Training involving movement with loaded firearms is an inherent part of this course.
